It is fairly common for people who are unacquainted with cannabis to wonder: Is hemp weed?And/or which CBD is better, Hemp or Cannabis CBD? Although hemp and marijuana are both classified biologically as cannabis, they do have a number of important differences.
Hemp CBD
Hemp plants generally contain more CBD, and cannabis plants contain more tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a compound that causes the ‘high’ that people associate with cannabis use.
The cannabis variety C. sativa plants - with less than 0.3 percent THC - are classified as hemp, or industrial hemp. Hemp isn't completely free of THC compounds, but they don't produce enough THC to have an intoxicating effect. CBD won't produce a euphoric high on its own.
Technically speaking, you can smoke hemp if you really want to, but it won't get you high. You would be better served by consuming a hemp-derived CBD product, such as a CBD oil or tincture, like the Mood Ring CBD
CBD Cannabis
Cannabis and hemp plants contain both CBD, and THC, along with more than 540 other substances. The main difference between the two plants is the amount of each compound they contain. Cannabis contains more THC, and less CBD. Hemp contains more CBD and less THC.
Which is better?
Most importantly, the benefits of CBD do not change whether it is cannabis-derived CBD or hemp-derived CBD because the chemical make-up of CBD does not depend on which plant it was derived from.
However, the amount of CBD available for extraction does depend on the source, and it has been shown that hemp plants contain far more CBD, making them a much more lucrative option for manufacturers.
